Happy 4th of July...Torro

Well, well, well.  We had to find something to do today down here in the south of france in lieu of Fireworks, so we chose the closest thing we could find.

BULL FIGHTS.  Yes I said BULL FIGHTS.  Ok, Ok they weren't the Spain type of bull fights where they torture the poor bull then kill it.  This was called "Bull Games".  Where approximately 60 young men (daring young men) put on their bleach whites and some kind of knuckle blade and try to get the ribbons of a very angry bull's horns.  It was crazy and a blast.  The lucky young man that actually gets the ribbon, is awarded a sum of money.  The bulls are tormented by these guys and chase them to the wall.  These guys are part super hero I think.  They fly out of the ring when chased.  See pics.  Anyway, it was a lot of fun and took our minds off of missing fireworks, family, and friends.

Oh yea, did I mention that this was performed in an ancient Roman Amphitheater that was built in 90 AD.  The arena held 20,000 people.  My guess is that approximately 10,000 were in attendance tonight.
