We made it!

Well, we made it.  17 hours after leaving our house.  The first day here was a bit rough...lots of tired and crankiness.  We arrived in Paris at about 9:30.  We were able to get into our apartment at about 1:30.  The apartment is in a great area, very close to the Louvre.  So, what would you do after 17 hours of travel and a 1 hour rest?  Go to the Lourve of course!  And that we did.  We were told that the crowds would be unbearable at the Louvre, and so we were ready.  However, for reasons that we do not know, there were very few people there.  We heard tour guides all around us saying how unusual this was and that we would never get closer to the Winged Victory than we did.  Well, we are not complaining and we thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent show of art!  After that we walked through the adjacent gardens, had a good old fashioned game of tag in and amongst the labryinth of hedges, and then headed to a cafe for dinner.  How was the food?  It's France, can it be bad?  The cheese in the pasta formed a mouth drooling string of cheese from the fork to the mouth, the french onion soup was an explosion of flavor, and the house wine tasted like we were sipping from one of our favorite wineries.  It was here that I literally fell asleep at the table.  I guess the week of little sleep had finally caught up!  And so, in this tired state I leave this now.  Bonne nuit!

  1. I tried to post a comment from Dad's account and don't think it made it. Everyone looks well and it sounds great, and making me hungry! Moose says "HI" and can't wait to hear more.

  2. I could tell instantly where you took the first picture from: the Winged Victory in the Lourve! I remember the spot well. It also sounds like you will all be French foodies by the time you get home.

Can't wait to hear more about you adventure.

Now, I just have to get this comment posted.....
